
PIANO LESSONS
Rhythm games / sight-reading / music theory / technique: 10 minutes exploring elements of musicality in relation to the piano. This could include clapping exercises; practice of drawing different notes; keeping a study beat; an exploration of musical terms and so forth. Exact details depend on level of the student.
Repertoire: 20 minutes working on pieces which incorporate elements of coordination between the right and left hands; an introduction to the Grand Staff and the musical alphabet; identifying the difference between line and space notes; reading the treble and bass clefs; noticing rhythmic and melodic motifs and more.

Scale work: 10 minutes exploring major scales and their relative minors. We will also delve into chord progressions, improvisation and elements of ear training.
Sight-reading: 10 minutes
Repertoire: 25 minutes working on repertoire which strengthens elements of postural awareness, and coordination between the right and left hands; incorporating a detailed study of the Grand Staff, identification of line and space notes via acronyms, phrasing, dynamic range, tempo changes, musical expression, terminology and more.

Scale work: 10 minutes exploring major scales and their relative minors as well as arpeggios, chord progressions and harmonic intervals.
Sight-reading: 10 minutes
Music theory: 10 minutes
Repertoire: 30 minutes working on repertoire chosen together with the teacher to facilitate the detailed study and application of elements including agility; postural awareness; phrasing; musicality; harmonic changes; chord progressions; complex rhythmic motifs; complete hand independence; musical terminology; intention and communication; artistry and more.
